Paul Robinson

I started throwing knives just over 2 years ago. It was my friends 40th birthday and we hired out a field for the weekend to have a party. Alan K Parish and Roger Arnay ran the juggling club my friend used to go to, so as a gift they brought a range down so we could all try throwing on the Saturday. I was meant to be a marshal for the bow tag, but once I started throwing I completely forgot about bow tag and threw for pretty much the whole day. Afterwards I asked how to become a member and they explained to me about their range (Essex Backyard Throwers) and to come along. I had to wait a few weeks because the range was closed due to them going to the Eurothrowers World Championships in Hungary where the guys did well. But once I got to the club I have never looked back. I try to compete in every competiton that I get a chance. This is my 2nd UK National event. I have been to both EBT comps in my time throwing, and also went to Eurothrowers World Championships in Czechia in 2018. I also love the fact that there is always something to learn and improve, and there are so many different styles out there and the more competitions you go to, the more you get to see. I was really shocked and happy that I recieved 3rd place in 5 meter axes in the 2019 UK Nationals as I was not expecting it and it took a second to register that my name was being called as it is the first medal I have recieved. Hopefully i will get more in the future.
